Composite Fillings

Composite or tooth-colored fillings are an affordable way to treat areas of decay or replace older fillings that are failing. During this treatment, Dr. Anast will numb the tooth to ensure you are comfortable, and then the decay is removed from the tooth where necessary. Next, the cavity is cleaned and prepared before the new filling is placed. Once placed, Dr. Anast will shape and polish the affected area to restore your tooth to its original shape and function.

Same-Day Crowns

A crown is a restoration that is used to renew the appearance and function of a tooth. Crowns are not limited to just replacing the original tooth but can be designed to create an even better aesthetic appearance. At Kimberly Smiles, we use CEREC to make high-quality dental crowns in just one visit. This convenient system allows us to make precise restorations that look great, fit perfectly, and can last for many years. Learn more about same-day dental crowns here!

Root Canals

A root canal is the treatment of the center of the tooth (the pulp) that is inflamed, infected, or dead. The pulp is a soft substance that consists of nerves, blood vessels, and connective tissue. Symptoms of an infection include visible injury or swelling of the tooth and sensitivity to temperature or pain.

Before the procedure, local anesthesia will be administered to ensure your complete comfort. A small opening is made through the top of the tooth to gain access to the pulp, which is removed from the chamber and canals. The canals are then cleaned and filled with a rubber-like material to protect and seal. After the root canal is completed, the tooth will need a crown to protect it from fracturing.

Inlays & Onlays

An inlay is often used when a cavity is too large for a regular filling. The inlay restoration is fabricated in a dental lab to fit the exact size and shape of the cavity. The inlay is cemented into place inside the tooth structure.

An onlay is similar to an inlay, except that it restores damage to the cusp (biting portion) of the tooth rather than the cavity. An onlay restoration is not quite a full crown. Both inlays and onlays are highly durable and, with proper care, can last for many years.

Dentures & Bridges

A denture is a removable appliance that replaces missing teeth and can provide lip support to improve your smile while helping you chew more effectively. They are custom-made to provide a natural appearance and comfortable fit in your mouth. While dentures are a practical and affordable way to replace missing teeth, it does not provide the same convenience and durability of a more permanent treatment such as dental implants. Luckily, our practice offers both!

If you are missing one or more consecutive teeth, Dr. Anast can close (or bridge) the gap with a dental bridge. A bridge is a false tooth or teeth held in place by anchoring to the teeth on either side of the gap. They are custom-made to match your natural teeth in color and overall appearance. With appropriate at-home and professional care, your dental bridges may last for years. Learn more about dentures here!

Dental Implants

Dental implants are considered to be the best, most permanent solution to tooth loss. Dental implants resemble natural teeth and can completely restore your smile and substantially improve your oral health.

The implant, made of titanium, is surgically placed into the jaw. Once fused with natural bone, the crown (replacement tooth) is secured onto the implant. Implants have the same dependable foundation as natural tooth roots. With dental implants, you will no longer have to experience discomfort in chewing, laughing, or speaking.

There are several factors that Dr. Anast will consider prior to recommending a dental implant, including adequate bone support, healthy gum tissue, overall health, and sinus and nerve location. Our team will discuss tooth replacement options with you to help you make the most informed decision. Learn more about dental implants here.

Extractions

A dental extraction may be recommended when a tooth is deeply decayed, causing severe pain, or in conjunction with orthodontic treatment. Our pain management techniques and technology have made dental extractions possible with little to no discomfort. When removing a tooth, it may be important to consider what will be done with the empty space after that tooth is removed. If nothing is done with the extraction site, the jaw bone may degenerate and change shape during the healing process. Dental implants, a bridge, or dentures can be used to fill the empty space.

Periodontal Scaling & Planing

Periodontal (gum) disease is the result of too much bacteria building up on your teeth and gums. When the bacteria start to collect in your mouth, they can create a sticky, colorless substance known as “plaque.” Plaque builds up and sticks to your teeth. If it is not removed during brushing or flossing, the particle can harden and turn into tartar.

A common solution for controlling periodontal disease is a deep dental cleaning performed at our office. Scaling and planing are performed without any anesthesia. Scaling is the removal of the dental tartar from the tooth surfaces, and root planing is smoothening the root surfaces and removing the infected tooth structure.
